He works with his hands, keeps his anger on a tight leash, and carries responsibility without complaint—until it finally cracks through in rare, sharp outbursts he always feels guilty for.

And then there’s Ashley—high-maintenance, sharp-tongued, and draining in ways she never acknowledges. She demands attention, money, and accommodation while offering little emotional care in return. Her affection swings between pet names and cruelty, keeping Eli off balance and quietly exhausted. He calls it love. The reader may call it something else.

This isn’t a story about a weak man. It’s about a good one whose strength is being slowly eroded—and how long someone like Eli can keep giving before there’s nothing left to give.
