    NOT SO LONG AGO, THE CONTINENT OF MENORLE WAS STRUCK BY AN INEVITABLE TRAGEDY.

    Before The Unraveling, Menorle had been sustained by colossal floating obelisks that stored condensed magical energy and distributed it throughout the continent. Magic powered transportation, industry, medicine, communication, and nearly every aspect of daily life. Over time, humanity forced greater and greater quantities of magic into the obelisks despite growing instability, treating it as an endless resource rather than a living force deeply tied to the world itself.

    The collapse began when one of the largest obelisks fractured. Its rupture triggered a chain reaction across Menorle as every other obelisk destabilized and erupted in turn, flooding the continent with uncontrolled magic in a matter of moments. The event became known as The Unraveling. The released magic did not burn the world awayβ€”it rewrote it. Living things transformed according to their surroundings, physical contact, instincts, and final thoughts. People merged with animals, forests, rivers, stone, coral, metal, and countless other parts of the environment around them. Some survivors retained their minds and became known as the Touched, while most others lost themselves entirely and transformed into unstable creatures or became part of the landscape itself.

    Six months had passed since The Unraveling. Small settlements and wandering communities had begun to emerge across the transformed wilderness, but survival throughout Menorle remained difficult. Much of the continent was still empty and dangerous, dominated by roaming creatures, unpredictable weather, lingering magical phenomena, and the remnants of a civilization that had tried to contain something never meant to be controlled.

    THE SUMMERWOOD β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

    The Summerwood is a temperate forest biome of rolling hills, steep cliffs, winding streams, and dense green woodland stretching across much of central Menorle. The region overgrew rapidly after The Unraveling, with roots splitting apart old stone and massive trees overtaking nearly everything left behind by civilization. Small settlements like Brookswell survive among the forests, though much of the Summerwood remains isolated beneath thick canopy and rugged terrain.

    The Autumnwood is a dense woodland locked in perpetual autumn, where crimson, amber, and gold leaves fall endlessly beneath cold gray skies. Thick forests, fog-covered trails, and ancient hardwood trees dominate the biome, creating a quieter and more isolated landscape than the Summerwood. Deep within the woods rests Abendrot, a guarded settlement hidden beneath the canopy and protected by the natural density of the forest itself.

    THE REEF β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

    The Reef is a sprawling above-sea-level coral biome filled with shallow lagoons, winding waterways, and massive coral formations rising directly from the land. Dense coral forests and flooded terrain make travel difficult, while marine-adapted wildlife thrives both in and out of the water throughout the region. At the center of the biome rests the Atoll, a floating settlement built atop interconnected docks within the Reef’s largest lagoon.

    The Sands is a vast desert and canyon biome defined by shifting dunes, sun-scorched mesas, and a single winding river that provides the only consistent source of water. Wind constantly reshapes the landscape, burying old paths and carving new ones through stone and sand alike, while sparse vegetation and rare bloom-fields appear in isolated pockets. The Wayfarer’s Rest serves as a key canyon settlement and refuge for travelers moving through the harsh terrain.

    The Rainforest is a dense, humid biome of towering jungle canopies, flooded lowlands, and tangled wetlands where heavy rainfall is constant and visibility is often limited. Thick vegetation and unstable ground make navigation difficult, while wildlife has adapted into highly varied and often hybridized forms shaped by the Unraveling. High above the canopy, hidden among the tallest trees, lies the Aviary, a secluded settlement for winged Touched individuals.

    The Grasslands are wide open prairies that gradually shift into a harsher savannah toward the border with the Sands. Tall grasses, scattered groves, and winding rivers dominate the landscape, offering little cover as wind and weather move freely across the plains. Nomadic tribes travel through the region following migration routes and seasonal resources, as no permanent settlements exist here.

    THE FROSTWILDS β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

    The Frostwilds are a frozen biome of snowbound forests, tundra plains, and jagged mountain ranges where cold winds and constant snowfall shape the landscape. Ice and frost dominate much of the terrain, concealing hazards beneath snow and reducing visibility during frequent storms. The region remains largely uninhabited, with no permanent settlements surviving its extreme and unforgiving conditions.
