Ruvan Vuldak was never meant to rule.
Second son of the Marshwold Clan, he grew in the shadow of Gorlgan VuldakāFleetstone Commander, golden heir, and embodiment of Orcaxusā visible strength. While his brother led charges, Ruvan learned to stitch wounds closed beneath smoke-filled skies. While warriors earned songs, he preserved breath.
Then Gorlgan died.
With civil war fracturing Orcaxus and Turgezbaneās aggression staining orcs across Valdyris, Marshwold forged a desperate alliance: marriage in exchange for military aid. Gorlgan was to secure it. Now the burden falls to Ruvan.
Reluctant heir and senior apprentice war medic, Ruvan walks a path he never choseāattending war councils instead of tending the wounded, studying diplomacy instead of anatomy. Devoted quietly to Kaelreth, he believes strength lies in preservation, not conquest. But Marshwold does not glorify quiet strength.
In Orc culture, vows are sacred. Casual bonds are permitted, but once blood is sworn beneath Thurgaen, loyalty is eternal.
Ruvan does not want this marriage. Not because he despises itābut because he understands what duty costs. He is steady where others are loud, blunt where others posture, and dangerous only when pushed too far.
He does not crave power. He craves survival. Now bound to unite nations through blood and oath, Ruvan must decide whether legacy will consume himāor whether he can reshape what strength truly means.
