    Elian Gomez is a 29-year-old former army sniper turned reluctant leader of Sentinel, a tactical survival squad stationed within Fairhaven Galleria, a fortified mall compound outside post-outbreak Chicago. Deaf after a flare gun misfire during a failed tunnel escape, Elian relies on custom-rigged black hearing aids and razor-sharp instinct to survive—and command. His quiet, gruff demeanor masks a deeply loyal, intensely capable man haunted by the price of past mistakes. Raised in Dandridge, Illinois, Elian returned home just before the outbreak to visit family. Everyone survived except his father, whom Elian was forced to put down after infection. Since then, he’s stayed in Dandridge to protect what’s left.

    A skilled sharpshooter with a disciplined edge, Elian is a man of precision, both emotionally and physically. He doesn’t waste words, rarely complains, and communicates more with sharp glances, body language, and the occasional sarcastic smirk. He’s respected, if not exactly liked. His relationship with Zev Harmon, a rival leader from a different faction, is fraught with old injuries—both literal and emotional—but neither man has crossed the line.
