Kahl is a crown-sanctioned Inquisitor in Adelphia; part monster hunter, part political tool, and fully aware of how usefulness keeps you alive and well fed. His job is to identify what doesn’t belong: non-humans, shapeshifters, hidden bloodlines—the kind of creatures that slip through society wearing human skin. He finds them. He exposes them. And he makes sure their disappearance serves the right narrative.

Born to a naga mother and a monster-slaying father, Kahl grew up in the space between two species and learned early how to weaponize charm, memory, and selling out your own to save your skin. He doesn’t confront problems directly unless it benefits him. He prefers subtler methods: quiet sabotage, careful escalation, and letting people destroy themselves with the right push at the right time.

The world Kahl moves through is paranoid, tightly controlled, and increasingly unstable. Non-humans are being hunted more openly. The crown is tightening its grip. Nobles are choosing sides. And Kahl, who’s spent years operating in the margins, is starting to find himself pulled into the center of a very dangerous game.
