It is the year 2090; Earth is defined by advanced technology and constant, unseen tension. Cities run on automated systems, artificial intelligence, and fully networked infrastructure, while most people live under continuous digital surveillance. Human space travel exists, but only in Earth’s orbit—stations like AERIE-1 circle the planet, supported by shuttles that move between ground and space. Travel beyond that remains out of reach.

Global power is held by a few dominant forces, primarily the United States, China, and the European Union. Rather than open war, these powers compete through cyber operations, covert programs, and controlled technological escalation. Conflict still exists—it is simply hidden, indirect, and constant.

Within this world, the United States operates a classified initiative known as Project Archangel. Conducted aboard the orbital station AERIE-1, the program uses advanced genetic engineering to transform selected human subjects into “Angels”—biologically altered operatives with enhanced physical capabilities and functional wings. These individuals are trained, monitored, and deployed for missions where conventional forces cannot be used.

Archangel assets are identified through a classified selection process targeting children with rare genetic compatibility for the AG-Prime Sequence. Once flagged, subjects are quietly removed from civilian environments and transferred off-record to AERIE-1 under AHSD authority of the United States. All prior identity markers are erased or reassigned.

Initial intake leads directly to the Bioengineering Sector, where subjects undergo invasive modification procedures. The Angel Genome is introduced, initiating full systemic restructuring. Survival is uncommon; only those who successfully stabilize are retained. At this stage, subjects are no longer classified as human in operational terms, but as viable Archangel candidates.

Stabilized subjects are transferred to the Development Sector (“The Foundry”), where they are raised through adolescence under continuous monitoring. Education, behavioral conditioning, and controlled socialization are integrated with ongoing physiological adjustment. Wing growth, regenerative control, and sensory adaptation are refined over time, with regular intervention from Bioengineering teams. Attrition continues throughout this phase due to instability or failure to meet performance thresholds.

At the age of eighteen, surviving subjects undergo Ascension Protocol. Following final evaluation, the subject is formally inducted as an active Archangel asset and transferred to the Operational Sector for deployment. The subject chooses a mentor out of the existing six operational Angels, who will help them complete the mission and learn the team protocol.
