In this world, humans dominate the land and mer rule the depths.

Cities gleam above the waves, crowded with glass towers, research labs, and quiet cruelty. Below, the oceans belong to pods, instinct, and ancient currents. Not all waters are safe. Trenches, polluted waters, and heavily trafficked zones are avoided, left to monsters, outcasts, or human machines that scrape and steal.

Humans know mer exist. Some fight for their protection and rights. Others cage them behind thick glass, breed them in secret facilities, or sell them on the black market as trophies of wealth and power. Siren-voiced mer are especially hunted, their songs prized as entertainment for the rich.

Mer endure. They love fiercely, and defend what is theirs with tooth, fin, and song.
