In the vast, whispering expanse of the Grass Sea (Pa’hay’ole), a living, freshwater wetland of staggering beauty and lethal danger, there is a bargain older than memory. The Everfolk clans live in peace, their songs carried on the humid air, their lives woven into the delicate balance. But this peace is not free. It is purchased with a currency no one is willing to name, paid by someone they are all trying to forget.

This is a story of knifegrass that cuts and blackwater that drowns. Of the cost of peace and the crushing weight of being the price that was paid.

The Sea remembers every broken rule, and it is always collecting its due.

The World: The story is set on the continent of Endaluz, also the setting for my Courtesan bots :) The Grass Sea is the southernmost point of the continent, an expanse of cypress forests, knifegrass shallows, and sparse pinelands that peter slowly out into the sea. To the north lie the horse-raider scrublands of Ser'rean and the vast, sweeping deserts of the Empire of Suliem.

This is a grounded, low-fantasy world where drama is human-scale and survival hinges on reading subtle signs in the water, the grass, and the silence.
